As a photographer — and as a parent myself — I know how quickly childhood passes. One of the things I hear most often from parents is how much they appreciate having a school portrait that truly looks like their child.
That’s exactly why I love photographing fine art school portraits.
Instead of stiff poses and forced smiles, I give each child a few quiet moments in front of the camera to simply be themselves. Some children smile right away, some are thoughtful and serious, and some take a little time to warm up. All of those expressions are beautiful because they reflect who they really are in that moment.
The simplicity of fine art school portraits is also something parents love. With a clean, timeless background and soft lighting, nothing distracts from what matters most — your child. The focus stays on their expression, their eyes, and the little details that make them unique.
Many parents tell me these portraits feel different from traditional school photos. They feel more natural, more genuine, and more like something you would hang on the wall at home.
My goal with every school session is simple: to create portraits that feel honest and timeless — images that parents will look back on years from now and remember exactly who their child was at that age.
At Studio 26 Photography, school portraits are about more than just documenting a school year. They’re about capturing a moment of childhood that families will treasure for years to come.
