Not too long ago, I was talking with one of my friends on the phone when she mentioned something I had never noticed about my home.

She said, "Everything in your home has a meaning."

After we hung up, I walked from room to room thinking about what she had said. It's no secret that decorating isn't my gift, but as I looked around, none of that seemed to matter.

She was right.

Almost everything on my shelves, walls, bookcases, and every other available space holds a story. Vintage books about my faith. Tiny jars of mustard seeds tucked into almost every room. Framed photographs of moments that fill my heart with love.

Love of family.

Love for the people from my past and present who have helped shape me into the person I am today—a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend.

Many of these photographs are imperfect snapshots, but they are etched into my heart.

One of my favorite framed photographs sits on my piano. It's out of focus, grainy, and far from perfect, but it captures one of the happiest days of my childhood.

I was eleven years old.

My mother had just returned home from Korea after being away for three months. My three sisters and I had no idea she was coming home that day. As if that surprise wasn't enough, she had stopped in Hawaii on her way home and brought my oldest sister and my four-month-old niece with her.

I'll never forget the feeling of seeing my mother again after those long months, hugging my oldest sister, and meeting my beautiful niece for the very first time.

The first photograph was taken at DFW Airport in 1976.

The second was taken in 1974, before my oldest sister moved to Hawaii. It's one of the last photographs of all five sisters together before that chapter of our lives changed.

These photographs are sacred to me.

As a photographer, I know there will always be another trend, another camera, another editing style. But what truly matters isn't perfection—it's preserving the people and moments that become part of our family's story.
